I think letting autonomous drones make real-time decisions can actually reduce human reaction delays, especially in fast-moving situations like search-and-rescue or battlefield reconnaissance. In my robotics clubs, we’ve tested AI-driven quadcopters that decide whether to dodge obstacles or return to base on the fly, and the system proved more reliable than a human operator juggling multiple video feeds. However, the lack of direct human oversight does raise accountability concerns—if a drone misclassifies a civilian as a threat and engages, who is legally responsible?
