Is it worth the hype to upgrade from last year's mid-range specs?

Most of the tech talks lately are all about how this year's latest hardware crushes last year's flagships. But when it comes to everyday use, is jumping on the upgrade train actually worth it? I mean, sure, the benchmarks look insane on paper, but does it translate to real-world gains? What do you guys think—do people upgrade just for bragging rights, or is there a real performance boost that justifies the cost? I'm sitting on a device that's still smooth for my needs, so the big question is: when does upgrading stop being a luxury and start feeling necessary?

Last year I got the Galaxy S22+, which felt like a total performance beast at the time. But then the S23+ came out this year, and the hype around it was really tempting. As I was wondering whether I should upgrade, the only thing on my mind was, *"How much of a difference would it make in everyday use?"* I don’t play games—I mostly use social media, YouTube, and take some photos. Even with the S22+ still in my hands, when I saw the S23+’s processor, I thought to myself, *"Do I really need this?"* In the end, instead of upgrading, I decided to bump up the RAM to 12GB and increase the storage from 256GB to 512GB. From a cost perspective, it made more sense, and that extra headroom gave me a *"future-proof"* feeling. I’m not sure if it’ll actually pay off in the long run, but there are some nice little improvements. Most importantly, though, with the S23+’s display tech and camera, I don’t even have to ask myself *"What if?"* anymore. It wasn’t about whether the upgrade was necessary—it was more about whether it met my needs at that moment. If you *actually* need it, upgrading makes sense. If not, it’s just wasted money.
