Is there any doubt that HCI is changing data centers, but is it really for everyone yet? With CPU, storage, and networking all on the same node and automation at your fingertips, my question is whether its widespread adoption is just a matter of budget or if there are other technical limitations or maturity issues in today's environments.

Let's compare it to traditional infrastructure solutions (servers + SAN/NAS + switches), which have been the "standard" in data centers for years. With HCI (hyperconvergence), everything is integrated into nodes that scale horizontally, whereas in traditional setups, each component is an independent silo with its own upgrade cycle, complex network configuration (VLANs, STP, etc.), and storage layer bottlenecks. The big difference lies in flexibility: HCI lets you grow by adding nodes like "Lego," without worrying about reconfiguring switches or storage arrays. That said, the upfront cost may be higher than a basic server, but in the long run, you save on administration (fewer people to maintain it) and deployment time. However, if your environment already has a highly optimized traditional infrastructure or very specific needs (like extremely high IOPS), HCI might fall short compared to solutions like All-Flash NAS with protocols like NVMe-oF.
