OLED against neon/LED-backlit displays is like comparing a gas lamp to an LCD screen—both give light, but one does it with pixels that turn on/off individually. So no wasted blacklight bleeding in dark scenes means OLED panels usually have better response times and lower power draw when displaying mostly black content, while neon lamps waste energy keeping the whole backlight on all the time.
