I'm curious, which pricing model do you prefer for freelance projects? Is it better to take on all the risk with a fixed price and then deal with the stress of rising costs, or is it more comfortable to charge hourly so the client stays in constant control? Especially when you're starting out, which one is more advantageous? I'd love to hear about your experiences.
Which is more logical for freelance projects: fixed price or hourly rate?

When I first started freelancing, I preferred fixed pricing because clients usually wanted to clarify their budget upfront. But in one of my early projects, I faced a situation where the design kept getting revised, and those "small additions" actually required weeks of work. Eventually, I switched to hourly rates, and the client finally understood how time-consuming the project was. Now, I can charge fairly for revisions as well.
While fixed pricing seemed appealing at first, hourly rates are more flexible and less stressful when there’s no clear scope. Especially as a freelancer looking to maintain your reputation, finding a model that’s fair to both you and the client is crucial.
I started with a fixed price, but I got really stressed when the client kept asking for extra payments for "small additions" to the project, so now I mostly prefer hourly billing.
