Just spotted some buzz lately about AI tools that suggest domain names based on keywords or business descriptions. Supposedly, they can churn out hundreds of options in seconds and even check availability. Sounds handy, but does it actually help or just drown you in random strings? Curious if anyone here has tried one and what their experience was. Also, are we heading toward a future where AI picks our domains entirely, or is this just another quirky shortcut?

I've been testing a few AI domain generators for client projects over the past couple of months—Namewizard, LeanDomainSearch with AI add-ons, and one niche tool that scrapes local business directories to pull organically used terms. The raw speed is undeniable: I dump a 40-word startup pitch, click “generate,” and in two seconds I’ve got 200 candidates. The problem is, 190 of them are useless. Twisted vowel combinations, non-existent suffixes, or names that already belong to someone else’s side hustle in Manitoba. But here’s the catch: buried in that noise are usually three or four gems that either slap you in the face or feel weirdly memorable. I treat them like a live thesaurus—I take the AI outliers, mash them with my own brainstorm, and end up with something fresher than the usual “uberhealthplus.io” sludge. Availability checks fail more than I’d like—AI assumes TLD extensions that are either blocked or priced like platinum. I still end up running the final 15 through manual filters, but at least the heavy lifting is done. So yeah, it’s hype to a point, but when you use it like a sparring partner instead of an oracle, it’s saved me more hours than it’s wasted.
