Facebook's content distribution algorithm has been heavily criticized lately. How are the posts users see selected, and which factors take priority? Additionally, is the platform's data collection and processing policies transparent enough in terms of privacy? Let’s discuss how much control we can have over these issues and what regulations might be necessary. In your opinion, what steps should the platform take to regain user trust? Can a balance be struck between increasing algorithm transparency and limiting data usage? I’d love to hear your thoughts. Also, what are your views on the ethics and societal impact of ad targeting mechanisms?

I've noticed from my experience as a backend developer that the lack of clarity in content distribution algorithms creates a sense of uncertainty among developers and even regular users. When I integrate an app with Facebook's interface, I can't figure out why certain content is shown to me over others, making it difficult to improve the user experience based on actual data. In my opinion, Facebook's first step should be to publish simplified technical documentation explaining the key factors influencing post rankings (such as past interactions, content type, and time), along with user controls to adjust the weight of each factor. Regarding privacy, I believe improving transparency in data collection by clearly displaying the purpose of each data type and providing a simple opt-out interface would reduce growing concerns about personal information exploitation. For ad targeting, it would be best to limit the criteria that can be used (e.g., no targeting based on health or religious information) and implement independent reviews to prevent discrimination. These steps could help balance personalized content delivery with privacy protection, ultimately restoring trust in the platform.
