Let's discuss the pros and cons of VPS vs bare metal servers? Both can be suitable for different use cases. While VPS is more flexible and cost-effective, bare metal is appealing for its performance and control. Which one would you prefer based on your use case? Which do you prioritize more in terms of price-to-performance balance?

I always prefer VPS over bare metal when comparing the two—especially for web applications or simple projects. From a cost perspective, bare metal prices are often several times higher than VPS, so you don’t want to strain your budget in the early stages. For example, a $5 VPS on DigitalOcean makes way more sense than spending $100+ on bare metal for the same performance. Plus, VPS is easy to scale up (upgrading RAM/CPU takes just a few clicks), which is crucial when considering how fast projects can grow.
But of course, there are performance limitations. If you're running a high-CPU/memory-consuming database or game server, bare metal is far more stable and faster because resources are tied directly to physical hardware. For me, though, since I run multiple applications on the same server using Docker containers for my current projects, the flexibility and automated backup features (like cPanel or CloudPanel) of VPS make it my go-to choice. Ultimately, the use case varies, but for mid-scale projects, VPS’s price-to-performance ratio is, in my opinion, unbeatable.
