Where do you prefer to store your data on your device? Compressed local storage or cloud sync? While local storage has the advantages of speed and offline access, cloud offers the convenience of backup and multi-device sync. Which one do you trust more? Compressed storage or cloud sync?

Well, my situation is pretty clear—I use a mix of local storage and cloud backups. For example, I store games and movies on my SSD to enjoy offline, and I upload my backups to Google Drive every month so I don’t stress about needing to access files across multiple devices. The other day, one of my laptop’s drives crashed, but thanks to the cloud backups, I recovered everything in just 3 hours—maybe that’s the biggest advantage, honestly.
But I’m not all-in on the cloud either; local storage alone isn’t enough, of course. Like, I was in a rush somewhere and needed a file on my phone, but I couldn’t access it from my PC—until the cloud sync saved me with a single click. So yeah, I’m all for using both separately; relying entirely on one is just risky.
I think both local and cloud storage complement each other; you don't have to prefer one over the other. It happened to me too—I filled up my local storage at home so much that I couldn't save new files. So, I switched to cloud sync, which lets me back up files and easily transfer them between my phone and PC. But I still keep important photos and documents compressed both locally and in the cloud.
In practice, I run into this issue: files in cloud sync sometimes sync with a delay, or if my internet slows down, I constantly get the "Syncing..." warning. With local storage, the only problem is running out of space, which is demand-based anyway. In the end, using both gives you the most efficient system, so I’d say, bro, you need both.
I prefer local compressed storage, bro, because it's super fast for offline access. Plus, the cloud can be slow sometimes, you know? For backups, I just upload critical files to the cloud, so both methods work for me.
Well, I prefer local storage, especially for my Python projects. When speed is crucial, it's practical to compress them into `.zip` files and keep them locally. I only upload the summary files to the cloud for backup or to download directly when switching to another device. The typical issue is getting lost inside compressed folders while quickly searching for files, but a small Python script to automatically extract them solves that.
