Just as Turing introduced RT Cores and Tensor Cores to accelerate ray tracing and AI workloads, Apple’s new design standardizes GPU-based computing tasks like rendering, AI, and simulations—boosting performance while optimizing power efficiency. With NVIDIA, these features were limited to high-power desktop GPUs, but Apple’s move to mobile means devices can handle complex graphics without draining the battery, thanks to its efficient integration. I remember 2020 hyping up the iPad Pro with its "some kind of microcomputer" vibe when Apple Silicon came out. It was the same old song: "new, powerful, sips power." With Apple's GPU architecture, it's the same old story—they promise a leap in both gaming and heavy-duty software. Before switching to custom ROMs, I had a Galaxy S21 with One UI’s heavy interface constantly loading up GPU shaders, especially when switching tabs. If Apple really polishes this new GPU and pushes Metal API to the point where apps start optimizing for it across the board, yeah, it could be a new era for mobile computing. The only question is compatibility with Android software and games—will limitations ruin everything?
