①I still think the traditional dot + earpiece cutout is the best. When I tested the Pixel 2 XL back in the day, I noticed that the small notch actually helped with facial recognition speed and heat dissipation, and it was way easier to handle software-wise compared to a full punch-hole design. Though, if the notch could be made ultra-thin and blend seamlessly into the bezel—like on the Galaxy S21—that’d be ideal. A smaller notch makes the screen-to-body ratio feel higher, and with higher pixel density, the display looks even smoother.
