But here’s the catch: that doesn’t mean the physical sensor no longer matters. At the end of the day, hardware is still the foundation—a 1-inch sensor with larger pixels will capture more light in low-light conditions than a 1/2.5" sensor, no matter how much processing you throw at it. What *is* true is that in controlled environments (daylight, good lighting), processing can rescue shots where the hardware falls short of a DSLR. Well, it's like what happened with smartphones versus compact cameras: at first, the hardware was the star (megapixels, aperture, etc.), but now processing is the real differentiator. For example, Apple with its latest iPhones uses the Neural Engine chip to calculate exposure pixel by pixel in real time, something that used to require a professional DSLR. The same goes for Google Pixel and its "computational" Night Mode, which takes multiple photos and merges them with AI to eliminate noise almost magically. This is especially noticeable in tough conditions: at a dimly lit concert or when recording moving videos. A large sensor like the one in the Galaxy S24 Ultra is still key, but without the software that processes those images and turns them into something usable, you'd still be seeing blurs or dark photos. It's like comparing a good 50mm lens to a basic kit: the hardware gives you the raw material, but the software is the chef who cooks the dish.
