The latest smartphones come with nearly annual updates and new features. Better cameras, fast charging, curved screens—you name it—and prices keep climbing. Do we really need all this innovation, or can we get by with older models? Do you think tech advancements are outpacing what users actually need? If your budget is tight, which features do you prioritize?

Back in the day when we used floppy disks and connected to the internet with a 56K modem, we'd say, "Wow, this speed is enough!" Seriously. Then came USB, HDMI, and we ended up connecting everything with a single cable. This relentless pursuit of speed in smartphones reminds me of the tangled mess of cables accumulating in our garage, you know? Take cameras, for example: a few years ago, we'd marvel at a 12MP phone camera, thinking, "Goodness, what sharp photos it takes!" Now, we see models advertised with 200MP in ads. Bro, if your goal is just to take selfies, 12MP is more than enough—what’s the point of extra MP in the suburbs? We saw a similar situation with televisions. When transitioning from 1080p to 4K, everyone started asking, "Am I blind? What’s the difference?" After all, at a distance of 3 meters from the screen, 1080p and 4K blend together. The same logic applies to the latest screen innovations in smartphones: curved screens, 120Hz refresh rates... All of these contribute minimally to the user experience while significantly impacting the device’s price and battery life. If your budget is limited, I’d say focus on these in order: a good processor (for smooth performance), long battery life, and a decent camera (say, between 48MP-64MP). Consider the rest as luxuries.
