When I first tried a smartphone with a built-in AI assistant, it immediately helped optimize battery life and anticipate my habits, making daily use much more comfortable. Later, I tried an AR app and realized that augmented reality is truly useful only in practical tasks, like measuring space. In my opinion, long battery life and smart automation are becoming essential, while excessive "smart" features without real-world applications are unnecessary.

The most important features that are already shaping the user experience and will only become more prominent in future smartphones fall into two categories: hardware and software. This enables complex tasks—from speech recognition to real-time photo quality enhancement—without significantly draining the battery. Batteries with capacities over 5000mAh and fast charging protocols (e.g., 120W) have already become the de facto standard, as users expect a full day of active use without needing to recharge. Equally important is the sensor suite: LiDAR scanners, ToF cameras, and advanced IMUs enable precise AR content and more reliable biometric authentication. On the software side, deep integration of artificial intelligence into the OS plays a key role. With Android 12/13, system services already predict your actions (e.g., auto-filling forms, optimizing screen brightness, or selecting the best camera mode) and learn from your habits while staying local to preserve privacy. Augmented reality becomes practical when SDKs (ARCore, Sceneform) allow developers to quickly add virtual objects to the real world without requiring third-party headsets. This is convenient for indoor navigation, online shopping, and education. As for "extra" features, multiple cameras with identical focal lengths often don’t provide real benefits and instead clutter the user interface. Similarly, overly aggressive "smart" assistants can be disruptive if they suggest actions without context. The best approach is to give users control: enabling AI modules on demand and allowing them to undo changes. In summary, essential features include a powerful AI processor, an energy-efficient battery, an AR-focused sensor suite, and well-designed system-level AI services. The integration of AI and AR is no longer just a "gimmick"—it’s a real driver of convenience when implemented thoughtfully and with privacy in mind.
