The latest releases always seem to be in the news because of their prices—has performance actually improved, or is it just the price? I think there are serious issues with the price-to-performance ratio. Do you think new-gen smartphones are truly worth it, or is it just marketing? Back in the day, you’d buy one, it would work, and it lasted. Now, is it just aging faster? I feel stuck between new tech and old prices. What do you think?

Buddy, I think it turned out exactly like you said. Back in the day, phones would change hands every 1-2 years, and we’d comfortably use them for 4 years. Now what are we dealing with? When a new model comes out, does the hardware change drastically, or is it just minor improvements? Honestly, I’m getting a whiff of marketing here. But I think the key point is this: phones aren’t "aging" as quickly as they used to. For example, I upgraded from a Galaxy S22 to an S23 last month—performance did improve, and I felt the difference. But if I know I’ll use the S22 for 4 years, it makes more sense to save my budget rather than jump straight to an S24. So, I think the real evaluation should be based on a 3-year timeline. My advice? Choose based on your usage needs. If you’re not gaming, there’s no need to splurge on a 2K display or fancy camera lenses. For example, grab a reasonably priced device with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (or 8 Gen 3) and use it for 3-4 years. That’s where you get the best price-to-performance ratio, in my opinion. Back then, minor improvements would come later, and it’s the same now.
