I'm writing this for those who might be curious: What should we focus on in terms of airflow, size compatibility, and material quality? Which criteria stand out, especially for cooling performance and expandability? Are there any pro tips regarding cable management? What’s your general approach for making the optimal choice?
What should I consider when choosing a PC case?

Did you decide how much budget to allocate while considering fan placement and case ventilation for airflow, as well as the number of PCIe and RAM slots for expandability?
Ensure good airflow for your PC's longevity; if possible, create "positive pressure" by using front/ceiling fans instead of horizontal ones. Pay attention to the compatibility between the cooler size and the motherboard, for example, choose a spacious case if you’ve opted for a large GPU to avoid installation difficulties. Cases with mesh fans and aluminum frames enhance performance. Also, routing cables behind the motherboard and neatly securing them with ties improves both aesthetics and airflow.
PC case selection used to give me the biggest headache when it came to airflow. Back in the day, I thought "as long as the case is big enough, it'll be fine," but I was wrong. In 2018, my M.2 SSDs and graphics card started thermal throttling. At the time, I was using a Corsair 570X. The front and rear fans were OEM and really underpowered. After diving deep into cooling solutions and testing thermal performance, I had to replace everything. Later, I switched to the Seasonic Fractal Design Define R6. The ATX compatibility in terms of size was great, and the fans were already better (Liquid 240mm and Optimus P12). The mesh panel in front made the airflow perfect.
I’ve also had some material quality disasters. Cheap Chinese brands with flimsy plastic—opening the case was a struggle, and it started warping over time. Now, I prefer metal chassis. Models with aluminum and steel blends are much more resistant to bending. For expandability, fan placement and 3.5"/2.5" drive bays are crucial. I love the magnetic fan filters on Fractal cases—they make cleaning a breeze. For cable management, I recommend pulling the PSU fully into the back of the case and using Velcro straps. It eliminates the messy cable chaos.
