What's the fundamental principle behind ultra-fast charging technology in smartphones? How can they deliver such high voltage and current while protecting the battery? How are risks like overheating and reduced battery lifespan minimized?

Realme's hyper-fast charging (e.g., 65W SuperVOOC) works similarly to OnePlus's Warp Charge by distributing power across the battery's two cells in parallel, keeping the system voltage low—this minimizes heat and wear while enabling rapid charging.

Realme's hyper-fast charging (say 240W) works on the principle of controlled current distribution while increasing voltage. Although batteries are designed for around 4-5V, modern systems step up "over-voltaged" DC below the threshold voltage—preventing cells from encountering excessive current. Realme’s 4.0 tech uses a similar layered voltage increase; even my X7 Max’s 50W charger ramps up the battery voltage to its peak in stages up to 10V without damage. As for heat and battery longevity, Realme’s fine-tuning kicks in: thermal sensors continuously monitor charging stages, temporarily reducing current if needed. In my experience, the X7 Max rarely exceeds 80°C, and even after a year with a 3000mAh battery, capacity remains at 95%—nearly double the lifespan compared to standard 5V/2A charging.
