I came across a category where quality doesn't always align with price when building a system. Some parts that seem cheap actually offer a great price-to-performance ratio. What should we look out for in this category? Is brand name more important, component performance, or is there another factor at play? Share your experiences, thanks.
Trivial price tag, performance?

I had the opposite experience; most of the time, what they call a "brand" is just a marketing strategy that multiplies the price. For example, a friend bought Samsung's cheapest SSD instead of a budget brand's, and when we compared prices and performance, their IOPS values were almost identical. Plus, Samsung's model loses its factory warranty when it dies, while the budget one had a 5-year warranty.
For me, the most important thing is real-world performance and suitability for the need. If you're buying a GPU for gaming, benchmarking is a must. When I built my last system, I went with the RX 7800 XT over the Nvidia 4070 because its ray tracing performance was better and the price was more reasonable. In the end, there's hidden performance in affordability, but it depends on what you're using it for.
Price-to-performance ratio can sometimes be a bit of a red herring; what you really need to focus on are detailed performance comparisons in reviews. For example, if you're buying a processor, check out benchmark results to see how long it takes to complete specific tasks.
