I'm curious, how are the screen and battery life generally for tablets in this category? Are they designed for kids, or can they handle heavy gaming? Is the price-to-performance ratio reasonable, or do they perform like luxury models?

There’s a lot of conflicting info out there about the durability of Samsung’s Galaxy A-series tablets. First off, the display quality and battery life are solid for mid-range devices. For example, the Galaxy A9+ with a 10.5-inch screen packs a 7300mAh battery that lasts around 10-12 hours with normal use like YouTube or social media. But when it comes to heavy gaming, especially titles that push 3D performance, users report overheating issues—particularly with APUs like the Mali-G72. That means performance isn’t always stable. If you’re considering one for a kid, some A-series models (like those with IP68 certification) do offer water and dust resistance, but the cheapest ones in this lineup have weaker protection. *Important note:* the "drop-resistant" label on the box doesn’t mean the tablet won’t shut off if dropped in water. As for gaming, running Fortnite or Genshin Impact on high settings isn’t ideal on these tablets. In terms of price-to-performance, you’ll find 8/256GB models in the €300-400 range, but don’t expect the same screen tech (like 120Hz) or processing power as Samsung’s premium Tab S series. If your kid’s going to use the tablet for intense weekend gaming sessions, I’d recommend at least the Tab S7 Lite over the A series.
