Is it better for the mid-range lineup to add more budget-friendly features or push toward premium specs?

The latest wave of budget-friendly Android phones is packed with value-oriented features, but some users crave a more premium feel—higher refresh rates, better camera modules, and longer software support. On the flip side, keeping costs low allows broader adoption and faster rollout of updates. How should manufacturers balance these goals? Should the focus stay on affordability and solid basic performance, or is it time to raise the bar for mid-range devices? Looking for thoughts on trade-offs, market expectations, and what you think will shape the next generation of affordable smartphones.

I recently switched from a cheap entry-level phone to a $250 mid-range model that added a 90 Hz screen and a noticeably better camera, and while the smoother UI and photos felt premium, the price jump was still reasonable—I think manufacturers should keep costs low but sprinkle in a few high-end features that truly improve daily use.

Thanks for starting the thread, buddy. I think keeping the price low in the mid-range segment and focusing on core performance makes more sense—adding premium features like a display or camera would only drive up costs and limit the audience. So, in your opinion, which should we prioritize: camera quality or a high refresh rate?
