Just starting out with folk songs and I keep getting stuck on chord transitions. Especially without using a capo, I want to get a smoother vibe with open-position chords. What practices, exercise routines, or finger placement techniques do you all usually prefer? Is working with a metronome to keep rhythm more effective, or is slowing down the song and learning it piece by piece better? If you have any methods to get a relaxed sound quickly, I’d love to hear them! 🙏
How can I play folk songs more smoothly with chords? Any tips, guys?

Hey man, first slow the song down to 60 BPM and practice until the chords are perfectly in place, then gradually increase the tempo by 5-10 BPM using the metronome. Keeping your finger on one or two notes and dragging it like a "mini bar" (for example, in G-C-D transitions) really smooths out the flow without losing the sense of rhythm. Which folk song are you working on specifically? I can suggest a pattern based on that.
