The latest iterations of the franchise are introducing more and more microtransactions, whether through seasonal passes or cosmetic purchases. Some players feel this dilutes the competitive spirit and creates financial pressure, while others argue that these systems fund post-launch content and keep the community active. From a design perspective, what are the acceptable limits before the business model affects the purity of gameplay? What compromises would you suggest to maintain fairness while supporting ongoing development? I’m interested in your experiences and perspectives.

I've found in my personal experience with *Call of Duty* that as long as paid content is limited to purely cosmetic items and all players can earn the same cosmetics through gameplay, it doesn’t affect competitive fairness. If a battle pass is necessary, I’d recommend making all rewards available to everyone, with only rare cosmetics as optional paid extras. This way, it supports ongoing updates without putting extra pressure on players.
