How do team dynamics work in CS2? For example, what are the differences between bomb defense and attack roles? What are the most basic strategies for newcomers? How do you usually approach it?
How do you play Counter-Strike 2?

Like you said, starting CS2 and feeling lost in the team isn’t fun at all. In my early days, I’d be wondering, *"Should I even go for the bomb alarm?"* when someone in my squad would say, *"Just jump in and play with the team!"* and I’d scramble to keep up. For example, during bomb defuses, you usually have to work with the rest of the team because one person can’t hold the site alone. I mostly took roles like *"I’ll just camp mid for the CTs,"* but a friend of mine was running around with the defuse kit, defusing the bomb solo—now that’s bravery worth cheering for.
As for strategy, I used to think, *"If we win pistol rounds and grab better guns in the next rounds, that’s enough,"* but then a teammate told me, *"We need a plan, or we’ll die without even knowing what we’re doing."* Now I try to be more organized—like sending three people to push A site while two hold the bomb site. That’s how I approach it now, at least.
In CS2, when setting up team dynamics, the most important thing is to clarify roles. I usually go for classic formations like 4-1-2-2 or 3-2-1. On the attacking side (CT side), one player leads with an AWP or rifles, protecting the bomb team and controlling map areas. The others take on supportive roles (lurker, lurk supporter). For example, on Dust2, while someone covers squeezy, the others support once the bomb is planted, bro.
Defense (T side) is more tactical, focusing on protecting bomb defuse spots and executing retake strategies. I prefer spreading out in positions where everyone can see each other, so when flashes go off, everyone’s ready. For newcomers, the key is to "just listen and stick to the team’s plan." I remember Benjo used to drill into me early on, "Don’t run around aimlessly, focus on map knowledge," and it really stuck. If you know the key spots on the map by heart, you’ll find your role much easier.
