What is the basic definition of e-sports? How has it evolved into an organized industry with the participation of professional players? What structures do tournaments and organizations in this field operate under? What are the physical and mental requirements in competitive gaming, and how do they differ?

As you said, esports is essentially the digital version of traditional sports. By definition, it involves competitive video game competitions organized with the participation of professional players. It first reached a wide audience in the late '90s, with tournaments like *Quake* or *StarCraft*. Later, with games like *Counter-Strike*, *League of Legends*, and *Dota 2*, it turned into a global phenomenon, attracting millions of viewers and sponsors. Back when I played *League of Legends*, I joined a few local tournaments and realized that the physical aspect here is more about mental endurance and reflexes. You have to sit for hours without losing focus, constantly analyzing team strategy. Tournaments are usually organized by major organizations like ESL, Riot Games, or Valve. The competitive environment is very professional—players can even have sponsor deals, coaches, and physiotherapists.

I first experienced esports back in 2017 when I founded a team called Hyena for the Russian Cup. We were just a small group of friends playing CS:GO with almost no budget. We entered a local tournament and finished last, but that’s where we met an organizer—a local hardware store owner who claimed to sponsor us. He gave us computer parts, and that’s how we formed our first serious roster. In this scene, tournaments are usually either single-game (like Riot’s Valorant Challengers Series) or multi-game (like the ESL Pro Tour). In local leagues like mine, teams often gather in a Discord server, and instead of cash prizes, you get equipment sponsorships. When you reach the professional level, physical demands kick in: 10-12-hour training sessions wreck your eyes, and wrist tendon issues start popping up. Mentally, focus drops after 5-6 hours, hurting performance. I used to play 16 hours a day; now, I tell my player friends 8 hours is the max.

E-sports refers to organized competitive video gaming, where professional players compete in electronic sports competitions. It's fascinating how this industry has grown—what do you think are the most standout games in this field?
