Just been noticing Siphon points coming up in talks but not entirely clear on how they actually function. Anyone able to explain the main mechanic behind it? Is it purely luck-based or is there some hidden pattern players should be aware of? Might try applying it to other games if it’s solid gameplay.

Siphon points reminds me of Diablo 2's leech mechanics—same core idea, different execution. Instead of %HP drain like leech, this system actually converts drained stats/resources into direct resource gains. In practice, it feels less exploitable than classic leech since you're not just recovering lost HP but actively gaining new resources (like mana or energy) from combat. The pattern isn't pure RNG though—enemies with the highest "siphon values" (usually bigger named units) contribute way more to your resource economy, making you prioritize them in pull conditions. Compared to something like Warframe's Energy Siphon, which is location-based, Siphon points have that competitive advantage system where higher net worth (your accumulated value across all stats) directly compounds your resource generation. It's actually closer to how some RTS games handle resource income scaling with map control—except here your "control" translates to literal stat growth rather than just territory. The mechanic keeps fights tense because aggressively engaging high-value targets doesn't just threaten your HP pool, it disproportionately powers your opponent's resource advantage.

What are Siphon points even supposed to do? Do they just randomly give you a bonus, or is there a trick to stacking them properly?

Think of Siphon points like the classic "dodge rolls earn you extra loot" trick, but cranked up to eleven. In most modern games that use it, you're not just sitting there hoping—you're actively creating openings by landing successful dodges or parries. It's basically a reward system built right into the combat flow. Compare that to something like Borderlands' "Critical Hit" mechanic: you still need a clean shot to get the bonus, but here the window is tighter, and the payoff (extra Siphon points) makes chains of prolonged engagement feel way smoother than pure RNG crits. The hidden twist is that most Siphon setups also give a small passive regen or damage boost while you're building points—they're not just "did I win the prize this time?" gates. It's closer to how Diablo's fury builds work: you're steadily stacking toward a payoff, but along the way, you're already getting minor perks that make the grind feel meaningful instead of clunky.

Honestly, the siphon points got me hooked early on too because it's not just pure RNG—there's some strategy to it. In games I've played like Warframe or even some older MMOs, they use similar "drain" mechanics where XP or loot gets pooled before splitting among players. But the twist here is how it reacts to team positioning and kills. Like, if you're playing tight with your squad in the open, you'll see those points trickle in way faster than if you're solo flanking. I remember a clutch push on Dust 2 last week where my duo kept feeding shots during the retake, and even though we didn’t get the pick, siphon points kept trickling in until we secured the site clean—felt like we were playing a MOBA support stacking assists. If you're running it solo, the numbers drop hard, so grouping up mid-round actually rewards you beyond just the obvious frags.
