Recently, I've been curious about the specifics of the Nether portal's structure and activation process while building one. The portal frame is made up of a 4×5 block structure, but I'm not entirely sure about the empty space inside and the effect of the light source. Does the position of the light source really make a difference when filling in those gaps? Guys, what do you think are the necessary steps and tips to activate the portal? Are there significant differences in the results of different methods?
How does the shape and activation of the Nether portal work in Minecraft?

After setting up the portal frame with a 4×5 block, you just need to enclose the inside space with obsidian; the position of the light source (like flint and steel) doesn’t matter—whether it’s in the middle or a corner, it won’t affect activation, as long as you ignite the fire. Seriously, I once tried putting the light source in the corner, and the portal opened right away. The only key point is that there must be at least one obsidian block missing in the space.
