How do you optimize resource allocation and building priority order when upgrading village levels in Travian? What are the most efficient upgrade paths for beginners, and which buildings should be prioritized early in a long-term strategy? Should defense or production take precedence in your opinion? Would you like to share your views and experiences?

When I first hit the 20-village mark, I realized that chasing a perfect resource balance was killing my growth. I started by locking my resource fields at level 3 and immediately put my Town Hall (or the equivalent “Main Building”) on a 5-hour queue for the first upgrade. While that was running, I pumped out as many Clay and Iron mines as the game allowed, because those two resources are the bottleneck for almost every military building later on. I also made sure to keep the Warehouse at least one level above my total stored resources—otherwise you end up wasting trips and time when the storage caps out. The trick was to let the production buildings run full speed while the Town Hall is idle; the extra resources you collect during those hours stack up and let you push the next upgrade without any idle time. As for early-game priorities, I found that getting the Barracks (or its first-level counterpart) up as soon as the Town Hall hits level 5 gives a huge advantage: you can start recruiting a small defensive force while still focusing on resource generation. A tiny army of spearmen deters early raids, and the experience points from those fights speed up your troops’ level, which later translates into more efficient raiding. In the long run, I keep the defensive buildings (Wall, Tower) one tier behind my resource upgrades—so you’re never completely defenseless, but you never sacrifice production either. Bottom line: prioritize the Town Hall and resource fields first, throw in a Barracks early for a defensive cushion, and then alternate between storage upgrades and the next production building. This rhythm keeps both your economy and your defense ticking over without any major bottlenecks.
