I'm really struggling to grasp the core concepts behind DPS (damage dealer), tank, and healer roles. How do you optimize each role's responsibilities outside of combat? Like, what strategies do healers use to balance mana efficiency, or how do DPS players utilize the sheding (damage sharing) system? What principles should I focus on to synchronize roles effectively within a group?

Thanks for the question, it's an interesting topic. Have you tried any MMORPGs yet to see how these roles work in practice?

Thanks for the explanation, otherwise it would have taken me years to learn by trying it out alone! Which game are you working on for Heal's mana optimization? Can you recommend one?

Oh man, I've spent so much time optimizing those roles... I was just like you, especially when trying to use mana as efficiently as possible on healers. I still remember the stress of *Aion* when I was trying to help a tank and suddenly got hit with a massive damage spike. At that moment, I had to quickly calculate my mana reserves and decide which heal was most urgent. Over time, I realized healing isn’t just about spamming big heals—it’s about constantly fine-tuning small heals. I’d usually try to keep my mana around 70% so I wouldn’t run dry at critical moments. I’ve got a lot of experience on the DPS side too, especially when I was trying to figure out the *Guild Wars 2* shattering system. When you’re in a group, sometimes you’ve got to stop dealing damage entirely if someone needs a shout barricade, for example. It used to frustrate me because I loved just focusing on killing a target and racking up points, but being in a group means making those kinds of sacrifices. That’s when I really understood how important role distribution is. The healer has to manage their mana, the tank has to keep an eye on positioning, and the DPS has to be ready to switch gears... All of it ties together, and synchronization is the key.
