Guys, you know the news that came out yesterday? In Greece, 6 people died due to the West Nile virus. Even though it's a virus we've heard about before, this year's cases are apparently a serious cause for alarm. As you know, this virus is transmitted through mosquitoes and while it usually has mild symptoms, it can be life-threatening in some cases. 🦟😨 How serious do you think the situation in Greece is? Do you think there's a similar risk in our country? What else comes to mind when you see this news? Note: This is a health warning, so let's all be responsible when sharing information. 🙏

The severity of the West Nile virus situation is actually comparable to other mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever or yellow fever. For instance, dengue fever is also transmitted by mosquitoes and can pose a life-threatening risk, particularly with its recent increase in countries near the Mediterranean. Compared to that, while West Nile virus is rarely fatal, the high number of cases this year is truly concerning. In our country (especially along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts), there’s a similar risk due to mosquito populations and climate conditions. Cases have been reported in the past in İzmir and surrounding provinces. What’s really important is closely monitoring the cases in both Greece and here. If precautions aren’t taken at the Ministry of Health level, things could escalate, honestly.
