Hey man, I read on T24 yesterday that microbiologist Ali Rıza Akın explained one of the reasons why weight-loss injections don’t have the same effect on everyone is due to our gut bacteria. So, it’s not just about calorie counting for our weight, but our body’s microbiome plays a big role too. What do you guys think? I was left wondering, like, how effective probiotics actually are for weight loss then? 🤔

I’ve recently come to really understand how important gut bacteria are for losing weight. I tried it myself, using probiotic supplements on my doctor’s recommendation, especially ones that contain Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains. I can say there was no change in the first few months—actually, the gas buildup in my stomach even got me a bit down—but after 3–4 weeks my digestion settled and I gradually started to feel my appetite decrease. I used to feel a constant heaviness after meals; that’s gone now.
In my opinion, the most important thing, besides probiotics, is eating a fiber‑rich diet, because I’ve read studies saying fiber also feeds the gut bacteria. I tried to get at least 25–30 g of fiber a day—vegetables, oats, flaxseed, etc. Honestly, it wasn’t a miracle on its own, but I think it helped alongside the rest of my diet and exercise. If you want to give it a shot, go for a multistrain product with at least 10 billion CFU; I missed that detail for a while 😅
