Guys, did you check the news today? It seems that starting this morning, many roads in Ankara are being closed to traffic in preparation for a cycling race. So, it looks like there's going to be a big race soon, bro 🚴♂️💨
I think the traffic monsters in the city will get a bit of a breather, but it'll also be an exciting day for the cyclists. Do you think events like this contribute to Ankara's sports culture, or do they just cause trouble for traffic? How do people usually react when roads are closed?

Last year I stumbled upon a bike tour that went through Ankara, and I went to watch it with my buddy. We’d been warned ahead of time, and even though we grumbled a bit when we saw the roads closed, we ended up having a blast! The racers were super fast, and the folks lining the course were cheering them on— the excitement was totally contagious. I can say the traffic monsters finally got a little breather, even if just for an hour.
Now I look at these closures in Ankara the same way: the city gets to breathe, and people are slowly warming up to the sports culture. You might get annoyed the first few times a road is shut down, but then you realize, hey, something good is happening. If events like this keep popping up, I’m hoping cycling will become even more popular in Ankara.
