We most often rely on the pick-and-roll because it offers quick decision-making options and immediately creates space for the ball handler and the screener—compared to isolation plays, which often don’t provide enough movement options against a well-organized team. Even the off-ball cuts often take a backseat to the pick-and-roll because they create less immediate mismatch between defensive lines.
