I actually caught the Monaco GP last season, and like all of us, I felt that intense excitement. Verstappen took pole before the race, things got chaotic, but it was Max’s moves that sealed the day. I even finished fourth in that race, and while chatting with my teammate we talked about McLaren’s quiet yet effective strength. I wasn’t surprised at all by Piastri’s comment— the team’s recent surge has genuinely shocked us all.
I think McLaren is exactly where it belongs this season. They used to struggle with engine issues, and now they’ve become a team everyone respects. As for the Dutch GP, here’s my take: Verstappen is still one of the favorites, but the circuit’s openness to any weather and Verstappen’s close following could let McLaren jump ahead at any moment.
