Diego Carlos really is a big addition, because bringing in an experienced centre‑back from abroad would seriously strengthen the defensive line. Likewise, looking at the instability we had in our defence last season, a seasoned and leader‑type player like him could meet those expectations. Of course you’re right that his price could be steep, but we know how to turn a quality defender into a long‑term advantage.
My suggestion is that, if the transfer goes through, we use him first to replace Aykut. If we also secure a good backup to cover injury risk, the two of them will make the centre‑back pairing pretty reliable. No matter how high the fee is, he could lift the team’s defensive performance in the long run, making it a well‑earned signing.
