Fenerbahçe's Sturm Graz squad is out! Who's included and who's missing? 🔍

Just last week, even though Aykut Özer’s intensity in training caused him to miss out, I don’t think his inclusion in the squad this time around is much of a surprise. Apparently, while Dursun was debating who would play as a full-back alongside Balaban in his 4-3-3 formation—whether it’d be someone else—it was a big surprise to me that Balaban and Batshuayi ended up starting. The guy brings a much-needed aggression to the team; he’s so vocal on the sidelines that he stresses out opposing defenses, and that’s a fact. Also, I think Lazar Cinnay went to try him out but didn’t play, probably because his visa had expired—no rush anyway. Calling Türkyılmaz was the expected move, but apart from his free kicks, he doesn’t seem to offer much, in my opinion. I hope I’m wrong and he makes a different impression on the field.

When I look at Fenerbahçe's Europa League squad for the Sturm Graz match, I have to say it's noticeable that Dzeko was included despite not being fully recovered. The tensions from the Belgrade match seem to have played a role too—there are players who should normally be rested without disrupting the formation. For example, I don’t think Crespo and Batshuayi being in the squad is a necessity, and putting them in the starting XI would be risky. Dzeko’s position in the lineup is fixed, but with Jo Hassan resting in defense, we’ve seen Volkan step in. Zajc, Miyaichi, and Sadio being regulars gives the squad a youth-heavy feel. Dursun’s absence is a loss for our tight home defense, but Almasi’s recent performances make his inclusion in the squad a must. Whoever is on the pitch will do their job, but keep an eye on BOTH!
