The young talent literally breathed life into Atletico's quick attacks.
So, what do you think? How sustainable is Kang-in’s performance? Did Atletico strike gold with this transfer or was it just a lucky first game? What kind of impact could this transfer have until the end of the season? Let’s discuss!

Haha, I absolutely loved this transfer! When I watched Kang-in score that goal with such confidence, I almost shouted "Same happened to me!" even though I was alone at home 😅. No beating around the bush, I'm in love with his talent. At least in the first match, he really upped the team's tempo! This small but fiery player Atlético brought from Brazil looks super in the green and white of the midfield.
I think this transfer could work out well in the long run. They really needed a player who could give some breathing space to the constantly struggling midfield, and Kang-in's ball-carrying speed and composure in front shots are invaluable. If he gets playing time until the end of the season and catches the attention of top league teams, that would be great! The only concern I have is the "first performance dazzle" thing we've all experienced when investing in young players... But this time, I'm hopeful!
Years ago, I witnessed a similar situation too, mate. Back in 2016, there was a young midfielder who had just graduated from Bayern's youth academy to the first team—I can't recall his name right now. In his first professional match, the team was down 0-1, and he took an outside shot that went straight into the net. It was the kind of goal you’d just go, “Wow.” The media acted like they’d discovered the next Messi. So what happened next? He looked good for a while, but then his form dipped, and he kept getting dropped with injury excuses.
I think Lee Kang-in’s performance should be looked at from this angle. Sure, scoring that kind of goal in his first match is great news for the team. But as you said, the real question is whether he can sustain it. The biggest issue I saw in that young player was that he couldn’t physically adapt to the speed of the Bundesliga. Kang-in will need to adjust to the tempo of La Liga. If he can keep up, it’ll be a fantastic signing for Atletico, no doubt. But whether he can deliver consistent performances after that one goal is still up in the air. If you ask me about his impact by the end of the season—if he’s managed carefully and his body holds up, he could help push the team up the table. Otherwise, it might just be a one-off lucky strike. I hope he turns out to be a long-term solution for the Azulones; I think every player needs at least a few months to adapt in that league.
