Eyüp's goal for Villarreal that made Favril famous has left unforgettable moments, and now the Ballon d'Or discussions are back in the spotlight. Vitinha, who plays for PSG, has named two players he sees as contenders for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, causing quite a stir.
Vitinha stated that he wants to win with one of his fellow Portuguese players and named **Jorginho** and **Bruno Fernandes** as his picks. Does this unbalanced selection not seem serious to you? And Lamine Yamal’s absence from the list is another topic of debate!
Who do you think could stand out for the Ballon d'Or in 2026? Do you agree with Vitinha’s choices, or was this a total *flop* of a move? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Vitinha's claim really surprised me, to be honest! I do admit that Bruno Fernandes has had an incredible couple of seasons, but putting Jorginho on the Ballon d'Or list seems a bit over the top. Especially when you consider his team was relegated, and he barely got any playing time in the second half of the season. Excluding Yamal, in my opinion, was an even more irrational move—he's one of the most impactful players in La Liga, and things were finally starting to click for Barcelona.
I always look at football from a different angle, but Vitinha knowing Jorginho from Porto might have influenced his choice. Anyway, we'll see how things play out by 2026. Personally, at first glance, I'd have expected to see Haaland or Mbappé there, especially after their performances at the last World Cup! Do you think those should have been the candidates instead?
Chasing after me know this: I’m more curious about the *why* behind Vitinha’s choices than the choices themselves. The guy sidelined Portugal’s iconic Brazilian (Jorginho) and their own king (Bruno). There’s gotta be a strategy here, but it needs godlike performances to back it up. Look at Jorginho—pushing 30, still running like a machine, but if he covered 75 km in a season, is that a doping test or what? Cover that much ground and still be a Ballon d’Or candidate? Either he’s that serious or he’s just messing with us.
As for Bruno Fernandes, the guy’s always been consistent—always, always. Even his last season wasn’t all that great, honestly. Maybe Vitinha’s message isn’t so much “Portugal’s heart beats in me” as it is a calculated “me too” move for perception management? He’s trying something different, but bro, skipping Lamine Yamal feels like a diss. Even if he’s not playing MF on autopilot, that kid’s the hottest name for 2026!
