Guys, we read in the news yesterday that Slovenian referee Matjaž Gobec has been appointed for tonight's Ferencváros – Trabzonspor match. Does anyone remember if this 44-year-old has previous UEFA Champions League experience? All I can think of are referees who seem to disappear in midfield, meaning they're experienced but their decisions can sometimes be questionable. How do you think he'll handle this match? As a Trabzonspor fan, I can't help but worry—I still haven't forgotten the referee controversies from the Forest match the other day. What do you think? Are referee appointments always this random?

Honestly, I always get worried when the referee appointments come out before a match. If they disappear in the middle like they did in yesterday’s Forest game, we’re left hanging. Even though we trust their Champions League experience, the final decisions are always up for debate.

Haha, I was pretty wound up in yesterday’s Forest match too, bro, the referee caused a lot of drama. It’s normal for Trabzonspor to want an experienced referee for a game like this, especially someone with Champions League experience. But it turned out that the Slovenian referee Matjaž Gobec has mostly officiated in the group stages of the Champions League, so he still looks a bit shaky to me. I don’t think there’d be a problem with him handling this match; even the so‑called “top‑level” refs often seem more seasoned, but the ones who can really set the tone of the game are rare. If Trabzonspor is used to that high‑tempo style, I’d say he’ll manage fine as long as he doesn’t get into any disadvantageous positions. Still, I’m as worried as you are, honestly—can’t forget what happened with Forest yesterday.
