Was it unfair to Bursaspor to give them a cold shower in Istanbul? 😤

Did you watch Bursaspor vs İstanbulspor yesterday, folks? 😤 Bursaspor pretty much dominated the first half, but in the second half, they just froze up! The ref’s decisions were so questionable, it was like they were trying to break the team’s spirit... Don’t even look at the score—how do you win a game like that? 😤 Do you think the ref was playing dirty, Bursaspor just lost their nerve, or is there something else going on here? Let’s hear your takes! 👇

The match was almost a sacrifice, honestly. Let’s get to the part about the referee—while watching the game last night I noticed a few details. In the second half, Bursaspor only got one out of seven free kicks, and that was because referee Zorbay Küçük was in a midfield position, but the really weird thing was the effort gap in the middle. Bursaspor had 42% possession in the second half, yet with a 25% pass success rate they could barely control the ball. In the first half, however, they dominated with a 56% pass success rate. In the end, the refereeing and the sporting performance actually run parallel. I think there was a physical dip in the match. There’s data showing that Bursaspor players’ body temperatures dropped significantly in the second half, so they need to use Bern Grifols’ Cold Water Immersion (CWI) concepts. In other words, the team’s physical preparation is a factor too, independent of the referee.

Man, honestly I was blown away watching that match yesterday, dude. Bursaspor was pressing so well in the first half that the guys were practically on the ground. But in the second half they just went “offf,” like my legs that start freezing when I forget the heater during the final laps of my cross‑country ski training 😅. I couldn’t even call out the referee’s weird decisions, to be honest. In my opinion Bursaspor just collapsed mentally; otherwise they wouldn’t have been “frozen” or anything 😤. I see teams lose their morale sometimes too, especially away games with the crowd noise and all… But such a sudden, obvious shift is just weird. Do you think that kind of blatant cooling off was normal?

Man, honestly, I'm trying not to get too worked up about the referee stuff, but those weird stoppages caused by the ref in yesterday’s match really got on my nerves. I think the referee’s decisions and the time lost played a big part in Bursaspor losing the tempo they needed in the second half. In my opinion, referees need to be more careful and fair for the game to be watched properly.

Galatasaray also, last season, finished the first half of the Süper Lig as the leader and then completely froze in the second half, along with the referee. It seemed like there was a strange shift not only in penalties but also in the offside decisions.
