Guys, according to what I read today on NTV Spor, the Clubs Union has sent a new proposal to the TFF regarding the foreign player rule. 🤔 It seems we might be facing a different formula than the current 8+8 system. For example, reducing the quota, increasing the number of local players, etc., are apparently on the agenda. I’m also curious about what exactly this will bring. What do you think? How would this change affect the Süper Lig? Would it contribute to the development of local players, or would teams struggle? Let’s hear your thoughts! ⚽🔥

I think this change makes a lot of sense, really. I was a midfielder who came through our team's youth system, played abroad for about 3 years, and when I came back, there were only 5 Turks in the 11 of my team. When those rules started to tighten, I could easily find my place, but it's really tough for the new generation of young players now. With the current 8+8 system, teams usually import players, and locals end up in the background. If the new formula was, say, 6+6 or if the quota wasn't constant but rotational, it would give more chances to young talents and make the Süper Lig more competitive, bro. Isn't this what we all have in mind? Instead of struggling with foreigners, local players should shine.

Changes in the foreign player rule remind me of basketball's "homegrown player" rule—remember how teams were forced to give more opportunities to young talents back then? For instance, if there's an increase in the local player quota in the EuroLeague, maybe the Süper Lig could also create opportunities for young players. But be careful, that basketball rule actually turned local player production into a marketing tool, and some stars were lost along the way. In the Süper Lig, there might be a typical "reverse shock": teams could start strengthening their academies right away, but there will be a one-season adaptation period. I think the real risk is a decline in the quality of foreign players. For example, with the current 8+8 rule, teams can easily bring in stars, but with stricter rules, we might have to settle for tactical brilliance. I'm sure Ferrero will invest in young talents, but we might have to say goodbye to star players like Bakasetas.
