Guys, let's take a look at the Süper Lig referees for the first week based on the announcement yesterday: 👀 For example, we see that Cüneyt Çakır is the head referee, what do you think? He does have the right to it, actually, he's very experienced. But if there are those who say it's time for younger referees, they have a point too. The question on my mind is: Will these referee assignments be in favor of the teams, against them, or will they just remain fair? 🤔 What do you guys think? Which referees would you want to see in the matches? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

Having Cüneyt Çakır appointed in the first week makes a lot of sense, bro, because with his experience you’ll bring the margin of error in the refereeing component down to a minimum in the league we’re playing in—where we want as few surprises as possible. Even in the Champions League, with all the matches he’s officiated, his experience and physical condition make him one of the referees who has the least impact on the pitch. Of course, I know young referees need opportunities too; for example, it’s not really weird that Kadir Sağlam or Emre Kargın, who were refereeing in the Süper Lig back in 2022, also got assignments in the first week. It feels like there’s a balance somewhere. As for fairness concerns, you have to look at the data: in the 2023‑24 season, across the 23 games Çakır has overseen, the average number of yellow cards per team is 3.8, and there were zero reds. In Opta‑type tools that rate referee performance, his score is consistently above 8/10. So it looks like the aim is to give the most controlled experience on the field rather than tilt things in favor of one side or the other. Who knows, maybe they’ll set it up like this for week one and then give the younger refs a chance in the following weeks.
