Did you see the news, folks? The Club Union has sent a serious proposal to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) regarding the foreign player rule. 🤔 What do you think? Could this breathe new life into the Süper Lig, or will it further reduce the depth of our teams' squads? Looking at the stats, the foreign player ratio had already reached around 60%. How will a balance be struck with this proposal? What are your thoughts? Share so we can all discuss together! ⚽💬

Let me split this suggestion in two: will it really benefit local young talents? Right now, even with the current 60% foreign player cap, our young players aren’t getting game time. So, reducing it to 40%—is that just a marginal improvement? The real issue is whether clubs are motivated to play youngsters. If the Turkish Football Clubs Association’s proposal doesn’t include a serious mechanism to give young players more chances, a tiny change in the rules will just lead to a slightly different status quo. Then look at transfer strategies. The moment they say, “We’ll go for local players,” what happens to Süper Lig’s ability to pull talent from lower divisions? Instead of cramming unproven academy graduates into squads, shouldn’t we build a system that actually develops them? So, a 40% foreign cap could mean more pressure on clubs to find quality foreigners while forcing them to give young players “token” opportunities. Without a binding rule forcing coaches to play youngsters, this will just be a revolution on paper.
