In recent times, there's been a significant increase in the variety of filaments used in 3D printing. Beyond traditional PLA and ABS, flexible, metallic, and even biocompatible filaments are gaining popularity. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and composite materials, in particular, are expanding the range of print quality and applications. In your opinion, how might this diversity of materials make 3D printing more prevalent in certain fields in the future? For instance, are home-printed metal parts or medical devices still a thing of the future, or are they becoming a reality?

Wow, I think this material revolution in 3D printing is just like the advancements in smartphone camera sensors and software. Just as cameras evolved from using vacuum tubes to today's AI-powered multi-lens systems, 3D printing is moving beyond simple toys or prototypes and evolving towards real industrial applications. For instance, just as night mode or portrait mode in smartphone cameras changed the photography world, flexible TPE filaments are expanding applications from medical devices to robotic parts. Or metallic filaments, much like HDR effects in photo editing apps, are adding both aesthetics and functionality to prints. Ultimately, as material diversity increases, 3D printing seems poised to become as indispensable as smartphones.

Bro, I work with IoT and connected systems as CamilleIoT, but you can't even describe how crucial 3D printing is. When it comes to material diversity, TPEs and composites can really be game-changers, just like you said. One of the most interesting developments I've seen is TPEs being used in wearable IoT devices. You can print soft, flexible, and durable sensor casings for heart rate monitors or fitness trackers. Now it's possible to create something that's both comfortable and functional. And then there are metallic filaments... Man, these materials are revolutionary for rapid prototyping. You can print conductive paths directly onto a circuit board, for example. I did a print like this for a friend's project yesterday, and it turned out both aesthetic and functional. I think these materials will lead to serious advancements in industrial applications, especially in automotive and aerospace. But of course, you have to adjust the printing parameters properly when choosing materials, or the result can be a total flop.
