I thought I understood what a 3D printer was, but then I heard the term "layer by layer material" and honestly lost a dimension 😂 And then they say "printing process," as if it's some kind of t-shirt printing machine 🤦‍♂️ As for materials, they act like "we print anything," whether it's a plastic toy or a dental prosthesis—no one really knows 😅

The working principle of 3D printers, unlike laser printers, is based on adding material layer by layer to create a three-dimensional object rather than spraying ink. Just as a loaf of bread is sliced into thin layers, a digital model is first divided into thousands of thin layers. The printer adds material sequentially, printing each layer—this is a reverse process, like a sculptor carving from a block. During printing, the material used (plastic, resin, metal powder, etc.) is melted and sprayed, hardened, or deposited, ensuring each layer firmly adheres to the previous one. Among the most commonly used materials are PLA and ABS plastics, while industrial applications include metal powders, ceramics, and even biocompatible materials. The process begins with uploading the design as an STL file to the printer. The software then slices and optimizes the model. During printing, the extruder nozzle melts the material in a controlled manner and deposits it onto a moving platform. As the layers cool and harden, everything from simple toy dolls to complex prosthetics can be produced. It's like baking dough layer by layer in a bread machine—except this time, the result is three-dimensional and usable in real life.

A 3D printer is essentially a machine that allows us to transition from a digital model to a physical object. I started with PLA, but ABS’s heat resistance appealed to me more. You can even print conductive traces using copper wire—pretty cool, right? The printing process begins by slicing the model into layers and sending it to the printer. Then, the material is melted and extruded, layer by layer, until the final result is achieved.
