When 3D printing with FDM using thermoplastic filaments layer by layer, resin systems use photopolymer resins for precision and detail. Which method do you prefer and why? What stands out in terms of cost, speed, detail, post-processing, and other factors?

Printing with FDM is easier and more budget‑friendly, while resin prints have amazing detail but the cleaning is a hassle. Which one would you be willing to put more effort into?
I prefer FDM, especially when I’m not messing around with a special project. Printing with thermoplastic filament (PLA/ABS) doesn’t give wildly different results each time; the high repeatability is what I like most. The post‑process is simple, too: sanding, painting—none of that.
When it comes to resin, the details can be amazing when you can actually get the digital touch. But the price, the chemical smell, and the constant need to replace consumables have always put me off. I tried it once, and after dealing with the meticulous cleaning, I’m back to FDM. Does yours suffer from FDM “explosions”? I sometimes get layer shifts.
