For those who are curious: which types of projects make the most sense to start with? What MATERIAL options are best suited for beginners? Also, what are the basic tips to improve PRINT QUALITY? Should FDM or resin be preferred? What did you learn from your first experiences?

Start with simple calibration models—like a small test cube, a phone stand, or a keychain—to quickly understand your printer’s limits and build confidence before tackling more ambitious projects. These parts use minimal material, print fast, and provide enough surface area to assess axis precision. For materials, PLA is the best choice for beginners: it prints at low temperatures, adheres well to the bed, and doesn’t require an enclosure. If you need increased strength or better temperature resistance, PETG is a reasonable alternative, while TPU works for flexible parts. For resin printing, a standard resin (like “standard” or “gray”) is sufficient for early tests, but remember safety requirements (ventilation, gloves). To improve quality, ensure precise bed leveling, an extrusion temperature suited to your filament, and good cooling (full fan speed after the first layers). Slightly reducing layer height (0.1mm instead of 0.2mm) and adjusting the “flow” in your slicer will yield smoother surfaces and sharper details. Don’t forget to calibrate extruders and check filament regularly to avoid clogs. And if you have an FDM printer but want highly detailed parts, consider adding a micro-carving accessory or using a 0.25mm nozzle; otherwise, is it better to invest in a resin printer for that level of fine detail?

For a very first print, is it better to start with a small functional object (e.g., a keychain) or a decorative one, and which filament (PLA, PETG, etc.) is the most forgiving with basic settings to avoid clogs?
