I'm working on a future connected bracelet project and I'm wondering which type of heart rate sensor would be most suitable. 1) Optical sensor (PPG) that measures through the skin, 2) Electrical sensor (ECG) that detects the heart signal directly, 3) A combination of both for more accuracy. In your opinion, which choice would you prefer and why? Your feedback will help guide the design.
What type of heart rate sensor do you prefer in a fitness tracker?

I'd lean towards the optical sensor (PPG) since it's simpler to integrate and consumes less power, but combining PPG and ECG could really help with intense sports activities. Have you ever measured the impact on battery life when both sensors are running simultaneously?
