One dilemma we all face when working with smart bulbs is whether they should always be colorful or if adjustable white light is enough. Colorful bulbs are fun and great for setting the mood, but sometimes a simple 2700K-6500K range does the trick. Which would you invest in and why? Is it the use case, budget, or another factor that determines your choice?

Bro, the hardest part about picking a smart bulb is figuring out what you actually need. For me, it all comes down to where I'm using it and what I need from it. Like, in my office, I need bright white light all day, and at night, switching to warmer tones is enough. So instead of going for those RGB bulbs, I'd just get one that lets me adjust the white light between 2000K-5000K. Yeah, colored lights are fun, but outside of blasting blue light for a party every now and then, I don’t really use them at home or in the office.
As for budget, colored bulbs usually cost more. If money’s tight, just get one that focuses on white tones—way more practical. Same goes if your setup isn’t hooked up to something like Google Home or Alexa; you won’t even get the full benefit of the color modes. If you’re still unsure, just ask yourself: are you just reading, or do you want to set a vibe with colors? Once you know that, choosing gets a lot easier.
