Absolutely loved these last year. When I switched over, I also upgraded my home lighting system to smart lights. I tried Philips Hue, for example—spent ages figuring it out at first, but once it worked, it felt like stepping into the future.

Now I have a general idea of the tech behind it. These systems actually run on a tiny microprocessor, which you could call the "brain." They connect to your phone via protocols like WiFi or Zigbee and manage things like color changes through that "brain" and sensors. In my Hue setup, I set up the lights to turn on automatically with a motion sensor, and the first time it happened, I swear I felt like I was baking bread in my own house.
