Which smart plug type are you using? Do you prefer ones with built-in Wi-Fi modules, or those that require a central hub like Z-Wave/Ethernet-based ones? You don’t have to explain, but I’d love to hear why you prefer what you do. Things like backup or latency also matter, so don’t forget to mention those.

Personally, I always prefer smart plugs with built-in Wi-Fi because all I need to do is plug them in and connect them to the app—no extra hassle. You don’t have to deal with extra wiring or extra device traffic like you do with hub-connected models. I’ve been using the TP-Link Tapo P110, and you don’t experience minutes-long delays on the local network, plus it works even without an internet connection (though there’s still a cloud option). The other day, I tried a Z-Wave plug to stop my green lights from flickering due to delays, but I got fed up with the hub setup and backup issues. Being able to manage everything through a single app is, in my opinion, the most practical solution.

I always prefer Wi-Fi-enabled models. I use plugs from a brand called Taavi, and I haven't had any issues so far. Since the device connects directly to the phone, there's no need for a hub or extra gadgets, making setup and management super simple. I can control it easily from the app even if I'm not in the same room, and setting up schedules is a breeze too. What's your preference in this regard?
